KNRStyling and Paisley Boutique Posted on 05 Nov 03:00 , 7 comments
We are so fortunate to be able to meet and work with some talented and gorgeous local fashion bloggers here in the St. Louis area. We recently did a fun photo shoot and styling collaboration with Kim from the KNRStyling blog at Paisley Boutique in Webster Groves, MO.
Let's get to know Kim...
I have a lot of people ask me why I started my blog. When my kids were little I would always spend their naptimes looking at beauty and fashion blogs. I always wanted to start one myself but was nervous that it wouldn't be good enough, or no one would read it. July of 2013 my mom was diagnosed with cancer and passed away only eight weeks after her diagnosis. I think that pushed me to put myself out there and start going after the things I desired without fear. None of us know how long we have on this earth and I don't want to miss out on anything! I moved to St. Louis two years ago from a small town in Illinois. Seven months ago I decided to start my own salon business. (KNRstyling) I signed a lease with Salon Lofts in Des Peres. Everyone thought I was crazy because I did not have a single client in Missouri. My blog has been an amazing way to market myself as a hairstylist and makeup artist.
I would describe my personal style as classic but fun. I am a mom first and foremost so everything I wear has to be functional. I have to really love something before I will purchase it, and I don't get too caught up in trends. My favorite places to shop are H&M, Nordstrom, Forever 21, Banana Republic, Anthropologie, TJ Maxx, and Marshall’s.
Winter means more textures, which I love! I feel like the cooler temps allow us to mix different fabrics. From a faux fur vest, leather leggings, feathers, suede, and tweed, the options are endless. I also love the heavier jewelry for winter. Chunky stacked bracelets and statement necklaces can take a simple sweater and turn it into a polished outfit.
Braids are definitely hanging around. I am loving the organic braids that do not require any elastics or bobby pins, they look so effortless and romantic. I recently did a blogpost wearing an organic braid and I’ve had so many questions about it I think I will film a tutorial…make sure you subscribe to my Youtube channel! I feel like everyone is softening their hair color with warmer richer tones as the weather changes. The ombre’ trend is fading and organic highlight placement is moving in. You may have heard the terms “sombre’” or “lived in color”, this is what everyone is requesting in my salon. The best part about this kind of hair color trend is it is low maintenance. It allows you to go 8-10 weeks between color appointments as opposed to the traditional 6 week color touch up.
I am a lipstick junkie…seriously. It is the easiest and most affordable way to change up your look. I love a deep berry or wine lip for fall and winter. Pair that with some black winged liner for a party and it is effortlessly chic. I have also been playing around with mauve lipstick for fall, it is a little more wearable during the day. I would do a smoky brown or plum eye with it. Check out NYX lipstick, Ulta’s matte lipsticks, and MAC. These are my favorite as far as the consistency and color payoff.
Kim styled 3 stunning looks and we are so excited to share them with you...
