Champagne & Polkadots and Paisley Boutique Posted on 29 Oct 03:00 , 16 comments
Jenna is a Midwest girl and a newlywed, and her blog, which you should be following here, highlights everyday fashion from work to play. Her Instagram feed, here, is full of fantastic fashion inspiration!
We asked Jenna some questions to get to know her and her style a little more. Let's get to know her...
Tell us a little about how Champagne and Polka Dots got started?
I started Champagne & Polkadots over the summer this year. I felt like something was missing in my life and I have always had an eye for styling and everything fashion. I was looking for a creative outlet, and since I have always enjoyed keeping up with fashion blogs, I thought it was something I would enjoy myself! And I was right, I absolutely love it. My favorite part about blogging that I was not expecting, is the community. I have already met so many wonderful people and made so many great friends. As for the name Champagne and Polkadots, there is no fabulous or elaborate story behind how I came up with the name. It's honestly the first thing that came to me after brainstorming for a just few short minutes. Champagne has always been my cocktail of choice (Asti Spumante specifically.) My Grandmother gifted me this taste by always having a bottle stocked away in the fridge for when I came to visit. And polka dots… well who can wear polka dots and not have a big grin on their face? I think the name came to me so quickly because it reflects me and my style perfectly.... bubbly, polished, and just down-right happy.
Describe for us your personal style?
Comfortable, colorful, effortless, and polished. Is that too many adjectives? Ha! I think the best thing about my style is that it is attainable for everyone. My style and closet is all about mixing basics with trendier pieces for the season. I like to invest my money in classics that I will wear over and over again, like a great pair of blue jeans or leather boots. For trendy pieces, I shop at Forever 21, Target, and H & M because I know those items will not get as much wear out of them nor will they break the bank. I think the most important thing is that you feel great in your clothes and that you have fun with what you wear.
What are your three must have pieces for fall?
A blanket scarf, leather booties, and a button front skirt. Blanket scarves are everywhere this fall and I absolutely love it! I mean, a scarf that you can wrap up in when it’s cold, or use as a blanket when needed? Heck yes! Also this fall, you have probably noticed the 70's are back. Which means flare jeans and a button front skirt are things that you need in your closet. I purchased a camel suede button front skirt and I can't wait to pair it with some tights for the cooler temperatures.
What fashion trends are you most excited to see for this upcoming winter?
Faux Fur, wool hats, ponchos, capes, and layering necklaces. I have always been a fan of faux fur, there is something so glamorous about it. I think it has to do with the feeling I get when I am wearing it... like I am channeling my inner Elizabeth Taylor. Another trend I am looking forward to seeing more of is ponchos and capes. Capes are basically an excuse to wear a heavy blanket over your shoulders and I am all about being cozy and comfortable. Finally, layering necklaces is a great way to incorporate your favorite pieces all into one outfit. I think this trend looks best when mixing elements, varying metals and lengths.
